Nounverber I was expecting this to be very good, but Myopia was even better than that. This can't even be categorized, and it certainly doesn't deserve to be. It simply exists as this musical entity that evolves from a hum to a whimper and then to a howl before spiraling into a sweet swan song at the finalé. The wide range, emotionally as well as vocally, makes for a very satisfying journey from the first note to the very last. I'm already anticipating The Dead Singer's next release. Favorite track: Entropy.

Empathy 04:10
I feel you Across this heart of mine I feel you Through these walls The inner whirl Of your inner world Feels familiar These wires curl Combine our separate worlds Unfamiliar I feel you Throughout this heart of mine I feel you in its halls Take this thread and your hand in mine We are forever entwined Empathy for a stranger How can I feel your pain as if it were mine? As if it were mine? Oh, empathy I'll never be rid of you.

Apathy 05:37
You call me up To tell me You're leaving But I don't see you by the door You call me up To tell me That you mean it this time I wonder what you even came here for How can you stand there and be surprised by my silence? As I draw closer How can you stand there and say that this wasn’t worth it? I want to leave Oh, heart You've got The worst of me, I'm sorry You call me up To tell me I'm deceiving you But I'm not one to play the fool You call me out Say I'm lying to myself For once, just this once, you spoke truth You spoke true How can you stand there and be surprised by my silence? As I draw closer How can you stand there and say that this wasn’t worth it? I want to leave, now Oh, apathy You've got The best of me, I'm sorry You called me love, once.

Entropy 08:14
We built this house Brick by brick We built this home Stone by stone Didn’t consider foundation first Or observe the lay of the land So this house was built on quicksand You brought me fruit from the garden But it was rotten I said, “My darlin’, you have to pay attention Remember to water these flowers.” We wrapped our fears in rabbit’s fur Listened closely for good-time birds We built this house Brick by brick We built this home Stone by stone Didn’t consider foundation Aligned the walls with candles Unaware they foreshadowed a funeral Welcome home These wooden walls construct the halls Tiny eggs hatch termite legs Eat away throughout our days Exposing rotted teeth to air You say, to me you say “I am no carpenter This I cannot repair” We built this house We built this house Floor of water upon stone Floats my body, rests my bones This journey Solitary In its entirety Now I’d rather be alone Among this rotted wood Crumbled brick Broken stone I’d rather be alone.

Atrophy 04:03
Love decays, and then Mold grows in, and then Rot eats away, and then Deteriorates Followed by long silence Elongated lull Into eternity Like a dream on waking, he fades Soon to be replaced By a new face As will I Far reaches of my mind With this thread you are tied to mine Wherever you wander, watch it unwind Infinite thread, we are forever entwined If love is simply a way To distract us from the dullness of days Then you take all the love While I sleep in the sun’s rays If these words fall upon your ears Know I cherished you, I held you dear If the message was unclear Now you can hear Now you must hear Farthest reaches of my mind Thread remains tied to mine You go, you stay, will it to unwind A useless effort, we are forever.

It takes courage to say goodbye But oh, I want to say goodbye Give me your courage.

about

Music as catharsis. This is a concept album that illustrates the endings of a relationship, and all the tumultuous, confused, chaotic, unnamable emotions that accompany the aftermath of loss. Allowing for these emotions to run their course, and inevitably, giving way to acceptance.
